Crunchies Deletes Criticism, Ignores Crisis

The Crunchies nominees were announced yesterday. And, TechCrunches’s debacle of an award process has just gone critical. Not only did Crunchies delete every single comment which called into question many of this year’s tactics… but they ignored that the problems even happened.

The Crunchies web site does not address any of the reasons for delay, nor does it indicate which, if any, nominations were not selected based on the democratic vote count.

My position remains the same, unless The Crunchies does what I outlined last week… the show can only be considered a sham. Post the top 10 nominees for each category, based on vote count, and post an explanation as to why any were rejected (if any were rejected). If they do, I’ll certainly post noting it. I doubt they will, so I suggest you just ignore the award completely. No, MechaWorks wasn’t nominated (or maybe it was… we’ll likely never know).

I’m just thankful I weighed in before the nominees were announced, in order to not look negative. It goes without saying that we were concerned that all the big-name-blogging companies supporting the award, would reject us due to being a competitor.

Since TechCrunch deleted the criticism, and hasn’t addressed the crisis, MechaWorks will be vaporizing any mention on the Crunchies on all of our web sites. This is being done in order to remove any search engine benefit that TechCrunch/Crunchies gained from the debacle process.

Update: TechCrunch is deleting and banning any poster that mentions the protest on their web site. We’ve seen it happen multiple times today, and while I appreciate the cogent discussion that is being put onto their web site… TechCrunch only sees fit to erase it.

Two of my comments on this have been deleted, it’s complete crap that anyone would sponsor something like this. Glad someone took the time to write about it.
