Now Tagged & Categoried
In preparation for the big PhoneNews.com switchover, I’ve started tagging and building out categories for all articles on this site.
Not a big deal, but if you want to take a look at the categories, enjoy and feel free to post feedback in the comments.
Still undecided on tag clouds, but I don’t have too much of [...]
Think Secret Thinks Stupid
Think Secret announced last week that they were closing down operations as a part of their settlement with Apple. Well, yesterday comes around, and guess what? They’re still posting new news.
Now, Think Secret didn’t say they would shut down immediately, they just said it “would cease operations”. That could mean tomorrow (okay, that didn’t [...]
Beware the Comcast TiVo
Comcast is finally getting around to rolling out their perpetually-delayed version of the TiVo. The unit is actually a firmware-modified Motorola HD DVR. The product was announced at CES last year, and hit delay, after delay, after delay. But, Comcast appears to be ready to offer a “significant rollout” of a few markets in time [...]

Yes, I know it’s Christmas… but there’s one great app for Windows that hasn’t been updated in awhile. And, as a Christmas gift, it has been updated once again. PDFCreator creates a virtual printer that generates a PDF. No Adobe Anything required.
I haven’t taken a look yet at the change list for 0.9.5, and I’m [...]
Deal: Ghost Squad for Wii @ Target for $10.98
Target appears to be clearancing Ghost Squad for $10.98. This is one of the best games from Sega’s AM2 in years… and is a military rail-based shooter straight out of the same vein as their classic Virtua Cop series (and, like Virtua Cop, is a direct-from-arcade port). In fact, many believe this is AM2’s response [...]

Best Buy prices items differently in-store and online. This is something I’ve covered in the past.
Unfortunately, many consumer advocates don’t like this notion. Well, I personally think they’re wrong in this regard. There’s good reason, too. Online, you can’t use in-store coupons and discounts… Best Buy especially uses 10% off coupons aggressively to spark sales. [...]
Security Update 2007-009 Re-released
Apple today pushed out Security Update 2007-009… again. Version 1.1 apparently fixes some issues with the initial release. Apple won’t say what, but you should re-download and re-update, even if you have installed the original update.

Increasing Vista Market Share: Let People Pirate It
I wrote this before going on break, but didn’t have time to finish it, and publish. Since drafting this, many others have come to similar conclusions….
I know, it sounds odd, but that’s exactly what Microsoft plans to do with Vista SP1. Vista SP1, in its final form, is set to allow people to install Windows [...]
Microsoft Misses Bungie Already…
I just saw this ad online and had to post it. While it would never pass muster at Microsoft Games, the Visual Studio team appears to acknowledge what everyone else already knows… Microsoft really, really misses Bungie.

Apple’s latest FireWire SDK makes some major improvements to FireWire Audio. Well, major in terms of FireWire developments. Leopard’s FireWire Audio API from what I’ve seen doing a bit of research has dramatically improved under-the-hood.
Now, there are some Pro FireWire uses for audio, but it’s pretty limited. If you recall Asteroid, it was Apple’s planned [...]
