Bad Ads: HP & Jumpers / Dual-ads
I’m starting a new series called Bad Ads, where I point out advertising techniques and individual campaigns that wind up being is a dismal failure. HP and this movie called Jumper, have teamed up for what I call a dual-ad. Basically, the ad spot starts off with promoting the movie, and then 15 seconds into [...]
Micromat Non-Update
Despite someone in Micromat telling me that they’re considering my offer to fix Micromat’s dysfunctional update structure, Micromat has not responded to it. Should be a fun time at the Micromat booth this year…
CES, Macworld ’09, Overlapping as Usual
Great, Engadget has just noted that Macworld has put up their “see you next year” sign (as they do every year), and guess what? the two shows overlap yet again. This time Macworld will begin before CES (that’s something new), but CES begins on the 8th where Macworld begins on the 5th. Macworld ends on [...]
iPhone-formatted Macworld Guide
Zami, a company that makes city guides and white page directories, has been tinkering around with an iPhone-format for their web site. And, they’ve decided to use Macworld Expo as a test case. You can access their iPhone site here, which will give you a guide with all the show info for Macworld exhibitors, divided [...]

The blog has been around for a few months now, I’d like to hear what you think. Feedback, suggestions, etc, are all welcomed. Hit the comments and tell me what you really think. And yes, I know, there should be a contact page… one will be up soon.
iPod TV: Mac mini is the new Apple TV
Some have argued Apple TV and Mac mini would eventually consolidated, I’m going to go a bit deeper today. Since last Macworld Expo, Apple has had two almost-identical products; Mac mini and Apple TV. While they appear different on the outside, on the inside, they’re nearly identical. Mac mini is designed for computer use, Apple [...]
NewsGator Goes Free for Consumers
NewsGator took a big step forward this week, making all their consumer products free. As a professional news watcher (it’s part of my job description), I bought into NewsGator, over free RSS products. I have to pass through thousands of articles a day to stay on the top of the game… and that means I [...]

So, for full Macworld Expo coverage, stay tuned to both PhoneNews.com and right here as well. Yes, the new Mac Pro has Bluetooth
One thing you may not notice from the Apple Store page for the newly-released Mac Pro is references to Bluetooth. In putting up the pages on the store-side, they forgot to note Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. Rest assured, it’s there, it’s just now an included feature. It’s listed on the official tech specs page.
Gmail IMAP can be Missing Messages
Here’s something troubling I’ve run into over the past 24 hours. I was moving someone over to the free Google Apps for your Domain setup, which provides free Gmail services @yourdomain.com. The client had an iPhone and wanted to move away from POP3 to an IMAP environment. Sounds straightforward, right? So I thought, I had [...]
