iPod touch Gets Mail

I was one of the first to point out that iPod touch lacked Mail. And, I also predicted that hackers would manage to get the job done, and carry the app over from iPhone. Sure enough, Engadget is reporting that this has indeed happened… though details of the workflow are forthcoming.

The code, of course, is copyrighted by Apple, so don’t expect to see it on an updated AppTapp Installer any time soon. However, AppTapp does support third-party sources… so I suspect hackers will make the install a very simple workflow when all is said and done.

I would say that at this point (assuming I went back in time, and didn’t camp out for 36 hours outside an AT&T store)… I’d probably have an iPod touch instead of an iPhone. Windows Mobile devices can be used as Wi-Fi access points (and we’re refining that process right now in the PhoneNews.com Labs)… combining 3G and iPhone/touch for the first time.
