iWork Pages, EPS Files, Printing, and You

By Christopher Price on May 26, 2009

What was supposed to be a simple, five minute procedure… turned into an hour-long debacle. I wanted to print out a door sign for the MechaWorks meeting room at E3. Simple, right? I opened up iWork Pages, dropped the MechaWorks logo (in TIFF format) in, and the MechaWorks icon (in EPS format), sized them to [...]

Apple Will Let You Get Credit Card-less iTunes Account, if You Pick The Right Doorway

By Christopher Price on May 13, 2009

I don’t blame Apple for wanting customers who can impulse buy. But, at the same time, there are a lot of parents, consumers, and less well off people that don’t even want to have that option for the intended user. They want an iTunes Account that doesn’t have purchasing strings attached. Now, there was a [...]

Apple Doesn’t Buy Companies Like EA

By Christopher Price on May 6, 2009

I’ve been hounded by emails pretty much non-stop ever since TheStreet.com reported on a potential Apple/Electronic Arts deal. Apple doesn’t buy companies like EA. Apple buys small to mid-range companies with large amounts of intellectual property. That IP can be tapped and used to make new chips, add multi-touch to iPhone, and all sorts of [...]

Mac OS X 10.5.7: So New, We’re Requiring It Before Its Release

By Christopher Price on April 26, 2009

Looks like Apple made a rare goof-up and is requiring 10.5.7 (Juno)… before it even ships. Try to download and install the latest update to X11. You’ll get a weird surprise.

Lies, Damned Lies, and Monday Morning Quarterbacking

By Christopher Price on April 24, 2009

Let’s rewind a few days. Back when we started talking about HD on iPhone. The web site MacRumors posted coverage of our article, but the last paragraph pretty much sent the time into outrage. The last paragraph read: “PhoneNews.com has not been a regular source of Apple rumors and their last try wasn’t accurate.” Immediately [...]

Don’t Forget History: Original iPhone & TV Out

By Christopher Price on April 20, 2009

There has been a lot of buzz about HD and iPhone lately. I’m sure you’ve heard something about that by now. But, let’s take a look at history for a second first, just in case the crowds at Moscone West decide revolt if Apple doesn’t announce iPhone HD at WWDC. When the original iPhone came [...]

Yesterday’s Derailment Brought to You By: Apple SuperDrive

By Christopher Price on April 18, 2009

You may have noticed not as much got done today as I said would happen. After a bunch of crud in the morning, I decided to burn a disc in my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2008). To my chagrin, yet another coaster had been produced. I was keeping a stack of the coasters that this [...]

Once Again, 24 Rips Off Metal Gear Solid (Spoiler Alert)

Once Again, 24 Rips Off Metal Gear Solid (Spoiler Alert)

By Christopher Price on March 31, 2009

Scarred and tired, Jack Bauer has been infected by a supervirus and must take on a derelict PMC, hellbent on world domination. Sound familiar? If you’ve played Metal Gear Solid 4, you’ve officially been there and done that. I’ve long talked off-the-blog about 24′s continual ripping off of Metal Gear Solid. People have finally started [...]

Tip: Run Repair Disk Permissions After Today’s Apple Software Updates

By Christopher Price on March 3, 2009

Over the past 48 to 72 hours, Apple has issued a lot of updates, for everything from AirPort to RAW support. I just ran Repair Disk Permissions on a couple of Macs that have gotten all those updates beamed down… and there were quite a few permissions glitches. So, be sure to run Repair Disk [...]

    Safari 4: Whoa.

By Christopher Price on February 28, 2009

For the first time, I’ve found a web browser that makes Web 2.0 apps feel like desktop ones. And, that browser is Safari 4. Safari 4 may lack all those community plugins, a point for which Safari is constantly critisized. But, that’s because people take Safari for granted. That’s right. People take for granted that [...]
