GM Must Quickly Correct Chevy Volt Misconceptions

By Christopher Price on September 3, 2010

I’ve heard about a dozen times on talk radio that the Chevy Volt is “$10,000 more than the Leaf, which goes 125 miles… while the Volt only goes 40 miles.” And, every time, I want to pull my hair out. Worse, I know one of two of these talk radio hosts is doing it on [...]

Zeta’s Future for New GM – Each Division Gets a RWD Sedan

By Christopher Price on August 16, 2010

Over the past couple of years, I’ve taken quite a liking to the Zeta platform at General Motors. Designed mostly by Holden in Australia, it’s an amazing rear-wheel drive platform. In America, we know it as the Pontiac G8, and more recently re-tooled for the Chevy Camaro. After the Pontiac division was deactivated, many thought [...]

GM: Volt will Have Smart Charging, You Will Have Override

By Christopher Price on October 20, 2009

Chevrolet confirmed to me today that the Volt will always be able to charge, even if your local utility company doesn’t want it to. Smart Charging is a hotly debated topic today. Many believe it is necessary to help keep power grids online, faced with ever-increasing demand. Opponents feel that it adds an additional layer [...]

Many Still Unaware of the Chevy Volt Emergency Mode Problem

By Christopher Price on July 24, 2009

It seems many are still unaware of the concern that the Chevy Volt will lack an Emergency Mode. As I’ve said in the past, I won’t buy a first-generation Volt if it is missing this key safety feature. What is an Emergency Mode? At first I wasn’t going to re-state this, but I feel it’s [...]

Deal: Chevrolet Volt – $28,000 Shipped (Draft)

By Christopher Price on June 13, 2009

Okay, taking a page from the deals at CheapenGadget.com, I’ve written a how-to for getting the Volt for only $28,000. That’s less than the cost of Saturn’s VUE hybrid… which doesn’t happen to be electric. And, it’s only $6,000 more than the Toyota Prius 3G (seriously, they need to stop with the 3G references, it [...]

First Volt Prototype Built, Funny Coincidental Timing

By Christopher Price on May 28, 2009

GM just announced that the first Chevy Volt has been built. Now, you might have seen Volts in the past, but they were actually mules from another pre-production car, the Chevy Cruise. The Cruse will be launching this year, and uses the same platform as the Volt. Some have asked me if you should take [...]

    Is Pontiac Really Just Mothballed?

By Christopher Price on May 22, 2009

Believe it or not, but the email ratio to comments is way out of whack on my blog. It seems a lot of you like to email more than comment… not that it’s a big deal. I don’t mind, but please don’t feel afraid to post a comment as well. I don’t bite… much. So, [...]

    Chevy Volt Loses Key Asset

By Christopher Price on July 9, 2008

GM has decided to cut the fuel tank capacity of the Chevy Volt, down from 600 miles to a paltry 360 miles. I haven’t talked about cars much on this blog until now, but I’m an avid car enthusiast. It runs in the family. Maybe I’ll take you on a tour of the family garage someday. [...]
