My TiVo HD is Confused
Long story short, I moved. Went through guided setup. Told it to go from CableCARD to OTA-only mode (I’m having the installer out later this month).
Now, my TiVo is trying to record shows using the OTA map in my old area. Even when I chose the channel in my new area, and select the show [...]
TV Pack 2008 (Fiji) Doesn’t Fix CableCARD DRM
Users with CableCARD systems have confirmed to me that Windows Media Center TV Pack 2008 (Fiji)… does nothing to fix the CableCARD DRM problem.
I’ve beaten to death the problem in prior posts, just run a quick search on CableCARD to see all of them. But, safe to say, that if you were holding out for [...]
Why TiVo Suggestions Can Appear to Be Paid For
Some of you may be wondering if TiVo Suggestions (where the TiVo records, using free space, shows it things you might like), are bought and paid for. The main reason for this is that when there is a movie in theaters, you may get a bunch of related content from a TV show tied to [...]

Today, my Westinghouse W3213 HDTV died. I camped outside of a Best Buy for a good 12 hours in 2006 on Black Friday, nabbing the TV for the nice price of $479.99. Just for comparison, Westinghouse’s equivalent model today still sells for $679.99.
But, enough about me bragging, the TV is dead after all. But, wait! [...]
Yeah, I’m Getting a TiVo
I feel like a tool. Last month Slingbox, and this month, TiVo.
I mentioned awhile ago that when TiVoToGo went HD, I would get one… Windows Media Center’s lack of placeshifting with CableCARD is downright unacceptable. QAM solutions like HDHomeRun barely work… and wind up with four cable drops going to a single PC.
Plus without Comcast [...]
Beware the Comcast TiVo
Comcast is finally getting around to rolling out their perpetually-delayed version of the TiVo. The unit is actually a firmware-modified Motorola HD DVR. The product was announced at CES last year, and hit delay, after delay, after delay. But, Comcast appears to be ready to offer a “significant rollout” of a few markets in time [...]
