Apple today rolled out updated versions of the games available for iPod. Specifically, these updated versions work with the new iPod nano and classic.

Problem is, if you own a 5G iPod, and already bought the game, Apple says you have to re-buy the game.

The wireless providers however, begs to differ on this trend. On Sprint, if you have already bought a game, and upgrade phones, you get to re-download the game. The only time Sprint didn’t make this offering was when they switched from MIDP 1.0 applications, to MIDP 2.0 variants. Such a change required a complete re-write of most applications, and Sprint has built on those versions with Game Lounge and multiplayer offerings.

Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T have similar options, for example, Verizon instructs customer service to issue service credits for re-downloads when you upgrade or replace a phone (for any download purchased within the last six months).

Simply, Apple should do what iTunes Plus showed people want to do; upgrade their content. So, what can you do? Well, you can start by giving iTunes Feedback. You can also contact iTunes Customer Service asking for credits so that you can re-buy the games without paying additional money.
