One question I have has to do with the hard drive controller. Being that you swapped in a 320 gig unit, does this mean it will recognize the new Samsung 500 gig drives?

I’ve settled on a 15.4 MBP, but I wanted to ask if there was a maximum hard drive size it supports before ordering both the notebook and hardrive(s)

All Mac units have SATA that supports 48-bit LBA (and so do all PCs, for that matter). All drives in all Intel-based Macs can range up to 144 Petabytes. There is no difference in the interface between a SATA 2.5-inch drive and a 3.5-inch (desktop) drive. They have the same capacity limit.

As the owner of a new Macbook Pro Penryn with the multi-touch trackpad, I am not too happy. My MBP misses keystrokes at random, one in every 10 or 15 keystrokes is missed. The issue is documented on Apple Defects at:

    More keyboard issues are on

It seems Apple released a firmware update for the MBPs recently, but it doesnt apply to the Penryn models. I do hope Apple fixes this glitch soon. Having a new computer malfunction from day one, and then attempt to take it back to applecare and find out that the parts to be replaced are out of stock isnt fun.

I read your review and I think that the expose key gives you all the open windows to the screen and the you can choose the one you want or need. I work with several programs to edit video and photos, also I have many folders, with photos to work with and sometimes I have more than 10 windows open, and the expose key, brings me all of them at once which, personally I find very use full..
I’m a happy owner of a new Macbook Pro.

I’m not saying the Expose key isn’t useful. However, some (like myself) would like to be able to change the function. Expose offers three modes, and Apple is only letting the button work for “show all windows”.

I find myself using the Reveal Desktop function of Expose much more than the Show All Windows mode. As such, I think Apple should offer the option in the Keyboard System Preferences panel.

That said, just like in my review, I think adding the key was a good idea… it’s just something that could be enhanced. Keep in mind, the old keyboard layout left F9, F10, and F11 “open” so that you could easily access all three Expose modes (without holding down the function key).

Maybe you already know, but command, f3(expose) gets you to the desktop.

    Greetings
