I’ve been looking for that cable for weeks, because I was planning to buy the 1.5 TB drive. It seemed like the perfect option for lots of storage, fast transfer speeds and great price. I will have to get a “slow” USB 2.0 drive instead 😐
Thanks for the information, anyway! 🙂

If you can find one of these Gigabyte kits, with some light sanding they fit nicely.
The included cable (the black external one) converts sata to esata. You will need to provide power but an old power supply or modifying the harness in the kit isn’t hard.

Thanks! This explains a lot, every where just has sold out. I just ordered a GoFlex Satellite for movies to my ipad and wanted a quick way to load them on… My Lenovo T420 is powerful but only has the eSATAp, no USB3 🙁 … well off to find a USB 3 Expresscard now! 🙂

Just dremeled a SATA-to-eSATAp cable, and sure enough, it worked fine. I suspect my previous SATA-to-eSATA+USB cable failed because the standard USB ports on my Lenovo Y560p didn’t supply enough power (just a hypothesis, but why I think my previous dremel effort failed).
