Apple today started posting their first support documents for Boot Camp 2.0. Boot Camp was in beta before the release of Leopard, so Apple only posted minimal documentation. Now that Boot Camp is fully supported, Apple has embraced documenting all most known issues.

In doing so, Apple addressed a graphics issue with Nvidia systems. Apple wasn’t specific on which ones were affected, Apple has used Nvidia graphics on Intel-based iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac Pro systems. But, the solution was the same, install ForceWare drivers linked on Apple’s web site:

Now, I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it’s nice to see Apple following through with driver updates. On the other hand, they’re going about it badly…

The proper way to update Boot Camp-related drivers and software would be Apple Software Update for Windows. Apple already has a fully-functional mechanism for updating Boot Camp software and drivers… quickly and easily. Lacking infrastructure is one thing, but Apple has the infrastructure to update these components without making the user think, research, or read consumer advocate blogs.

So, Apple, please start using Apple Software Update for Windows, you made it this far, and you made ASU for a reason… use it.
