eBay Descriptions Matter – Or, How I Got a Type Cover 3 Pro for Free

eBay descriptions matter. I went onto eBay, seeking a Type Cover 3 Pro to go with my Surface Cover Bluetooth Adapter – making the greatest wireless keyboard in history.

I found a brand new black one on eBay with a minimum bid of $25. Buried in the description, the seller noted he was throwing in an Office 365 subscription. It was poorly described, and buried at the bottom of the listing… almost as if the seller had decided to write it in at the last minute.

Obviously nobody noticed that, because I got the pair for a winning bid of $31… shipped.

Considering the one-device, one-year Office 365 subscription can (according to going eBay rates) be sold for $34.99, and doesn’t require any shipping, you could say that I got the Type Cover 3 Pro for free.

Now I can leave the first-gen Type Cover that I previously owned on my first-gen Surface Pro, and enjoy a Type Cover 3 that I can use as a Bluetooth keyboard with the Surface Cover adapter.

Type Cover with Bluetooth adapter… technically this isn’t Type Cover 3 Pro, but I love the Bluetooth adapter enough to use this photo…

I kinda feel bad for the seller. I’m sure he suspected the cover to sell for more than average, but the poor description and haphazard photos, along with a poor starting price, probably means he’s not going to be too happy shipping this one out.

Moral of the story: Sell items separately, and describe them properly.
