Seagate has issued a new firmware update for Momentus XT owners, version SD28. If you are a Momentus XT owner (like myself), you can breath a sigh of relief and update immediately… after backing up, of course. This firmware update will hopefully, hopefully tie up some painful loose ends that have stifled the life (thus […]

On Trashing Old Content

Published by Christopher Price on September 16, 2011 | Leave a response

For a long time, I’ve been a strong advocate in keeping old content alive. Over on PhoneNews.com, you can see some really old articles. They may not be the best journalism out there, and they certainly would bring a grimace to anyone writing a proper grammatical guide. There are even posts out on the web […]

Why Intel & Canonical Should Make A Deal for Ubuntu MeeGo

Published by Christopher Price on August 16, 2011 | 7 Responses

For those of you living under a rock, I’ll prime this article with the information that you should already know. One, there’s a Linux-based platform called MeeGo. Two, it was formed by a partnership between Intel and Nokia. Three, Nokia bailed on it after Microsoft gave them a billion in cash and resources. Four, MeeGo […]

iCloud’s Beta: More of the same?

Published by Christopher Price on August 4, 2011 | Leave a response

I will start this article by saying that we don’t know everything that will be in iCloud just yet. However, I will say that I am disappointed at the pricing that has emerged on other web sites (here’s just one for example). At double the pricing for Amazon’s Cloud Drive, I can’t say I’ll be […]

Mac OS X Lion Using OpenCL Graphics to Optimize Archives

Mac OS X Lion Using OpenCL Graphics to Optimize Archives

Awhile back I blogged about Mac OS X offering newer Mac owners the opportunity to finally download a full set of their Boot Camp drivers, right off the web. Unfortunately, as I noted, older Mac owners were just given a generic error. Lion appears to have fixed that. But, it also brought something really cool […]

CarMax Pre-transfer Walkaround: Things To Ask For

Published by Christopher Price on July 24, 2011 | 1 Response

National car sales giant CarMax has a nifty transfer system that lets you take the car you want, from far far away, and toss it in your general direction. When I called to learn more about the process, my main concern was a car driven by a smoker. The car in particular I was looking […]

Use iCloud + iTunes In The Cloud to fix iTunes Plus’s Old Mistakes

Published by Christopher Price on June 28, 2011 | 2 Responses

Like many, I am still stuck with a sea of .m4p files. These are the old FairPlay-encrypted AAC files that were supposed to be superseded by iTunes Plus. iTunes Plus did away with DRM music, and for a small fee, you were able to “upgrade” all your old music; getting higher quality versions sans-DRM. At […]

Clearing the Air on Adobe AIR for Linux

Published by Christopher Price on June 16, 2011 | 2 Responses

Today you may have heard some bad news about AIR on Linux. I want to set the record straight. Right now, the vast majority of Linux utilization of Flash comes through the Flash plug-in itself. Not AIR. Putting it bluntly, most Linux users don’t appreciate, let alone need AIR. It costs Adobe a ton of […]
