WHS Tip: Enclosures Matter!

Published by Christopher Price on December 7, 2007 | Leave a response

I’ll admit it, when I use an external drive enclosure, I tend to go cheap. That means those funky dual-USB connectors to suck power from the system, the high failure rates, and yadda yadda. If you’ve used them, you know what I’m saying. Here’s a lesson on why that’s a bad idea with Windows Home […]

Apple One to One & Consultants

Published by Christopher Price on December 6, 2007 | Leave a response

Like so many in this modern tech culture, I do some consulting on the side. You don’t want to see my rates… I keep my client list small and the invoices large. Of course, my clients know going in that they’re getting top-top-top notch service, so it’s not a big deal when they see the […]

Codec Day… DivX for Windows 6.8

Published by Christopher Price on December 4, 2007 | Leave a response

Seems to be a codec-filled day… First Xbox 360 adds DivX, then Adobe Flash adds H.264… now DivX has updated DivX for Windows to version 6.8. Run the Check for Updates… app in the DivX menu to grab it if you’ve already installed.

Xbox Update & Crash

Published by Christopher Price on December 4, 2007 | 1 Response

So, I updated at 2:30 AM (hey, I was up… no, I don’t stay up for Xbox Live updates). And, sure enough, my tester bones were ready to ask the question “how fast can Christopher crash the new Xbox update?” And the answer? Well, considering there’s a blog post… it shouldn’t surprise you that it […]

Adobe’s H.264 Flash Not Denting QuickTime

Published by Christopher Price on December 4, 2007 | Leave a response

A lot of people are going to start flaring their arms up about Flash adding H.264 today. I think it’s a good thing, you should all head to Adobe.com and update right now. Competition is always good… well, except when your “competitor” sends you a letter saying that if you don’t pull the plug on […]

Privacy Alert: Xbox 360 Update Reveals Friends

Published by Christopher Price on December 3, 2007 | 1 Response

One thing that irks me, is when social networking features change privacy settings without notice. Microsoft has done some campaigns to alert users, but honestly, they should prompt post-update if they want to do these kind of things… What are they doing? The December Xbox 360 Update, set to be released at 2 AM Pacific […]

Today’s PhoneNews.com giveaway got delayed a few hours… I was stuck in the rebate zone. But, the good news is, I now have virtually all my Christmas shopping rebates done. All 20 (or so) of them. Which, brings me to today’s public service announcement: Do your mail-in rebates now. Many rebates have a postmark date […]

Micromat Taxes TechTool Pro 4 Owners… Again…

Published by Christopher Price on November 29, 2007 | 3 Responses

Micromat has come up with a crafty way of taxing TechTool Pro 4 owners to keep using their software… refuse to offer the updater online. Granted, I’ve butted heads with Micromat in the past on their practices, but like I’ve said in the past, I do buy and use their products, as there isn’t anything […]

Google Earth for Windows Updated

Published by Christopher Price on November 29, 2007 | Leave a response

Google, sometime in the past 48 hours, has updated Google Earth for Windows. The new version stands at 4.2.0205.5730. As with most Google point-releases, there does not appear to be any change list available. Update: The Mac version got updated today too… so go update. I’d post the version number, but Finder just crashed on […]

Xbox BC Update Wierdness

Published by Christopher Price on November 28, 2007 | Leave a response

Tonight I updated my Xbox 360 with the latest backwards compatibility update. It didn’t add any games I’m still missing from my library (MGS 2: Substance, Gunvalkyrie, and DOA: XBV being the three major stragglers)… but it did update support for Breakdown, so I went ahead and updated. However, things didn’t go smoothly. Upon finishing […]
